Top web design trends for 2019

As a new year dawns, we like to take a look at upcoming web design trends predicted to be big over the coming months.

January always brings a host of new ideas, with web designers striving to create the ‘perfect’ website. So with that in mind, we’ve identified some of the hottest features that we think you’ll be seeing a lot more of on the websites that you visit throughout 2019.

But before we introduce our top selection of web design trends, a word of caution: just because something is ‘hot’, it doesn’t automatically follow that you should rush to include it in your website. After all, your website’s goal is to attract and retain visitors for long enough to interact with your brand, so it would be a foolish move to deter them with inappropriate features. So whether you’re planning to update your web design in Richmond, or spring-clean your site in Stratford, always seek out the best professional advice that your budget can stretch to.

So with that in mind, here are our top predictions for web design this year.

Monochrome

Color trends come and go, but black and white will never go out of fashion. We think there’ll be a marked increase in pared-down color palettes this year, allowing a website’s core message to really sing out. But that doesn’t mean that colors won’t appear at all – a single pop of color set against a monochrome background can really draw the eye, leading your web visitor in the direction that you want them to go.

Micro-interactions

They started gaining ground during 2018, and over the coming months we reckon they’re going to be huge, micro-interactions are the tiny little colors, sounds and animations that enable the viewer to actively engage with a website.

We’ve all experienced the frustration of tapping on a smartphone screen, only to be left wondering whether that tap was really acknowledged by the web page. Micro-interactions let you know that your tap was registered, making for a more satisfying and productive online experience. And with more and more of our searches and web surfing now taking place on smartphone screens, it makes perfect sense that improving the user experience (UX) should be at the top of your list of considerations.

Great content

As life moves increasingly online, the words on your website need to add genuine value to your brand, engaging, entertaining and informing your visitors.

Whether your goal is to capture email addresses, encourage visitors to download a file, audiobook or white paper, or lead them towards making a purchase, you need to first convince them that you are a trustworthy and relevant brand. And that’s something that can be encouraged and enhanced through the use of high-quality content.

We don’t just specialize in creating beautiful and effective web design in Richmond. We can also guide you through the process of marketing your site and adding extra value through sparkling and relevant content too – because every aspect of your website is important to us.
